Dawg Unleashed # 2

Dawg on cats

Welcome back! I hate seeing Barb ramble on in her blog when I have such great insights I am dying to share. This week I want to talk cats.

Kat! (The orange tabby in the picture.) Of all the cats I have met, Kat is the most obnoxious. She is always trying to cause trouble and make me look bad. I want it known that I am not a cat hater, nor a cat lover either. I can take or leave cats and most dogs I know feel the same way. The problem starts when cats don't give us dogs the respect we deserve.

Our relationship started out as most dog/cat relationships do. We were in the kitchen when Shandler plopped down Kat in front of me and told me to "be nice" to her. Well, I am a nice dog so no problem. BUT as soon as Shandler turned away, Kat batted my nose with her paw ~ claws out! I jumped back, as anyone with an ounce of brains would, and that startled Kat. She took off running and the chase was on!

There is nothing like a furry creature pelting away from me to get my chase instinct engaged. Unfortunately, Kat jumped up and ran along the counter, knocking off a bowl of ripe tomatoes. I managed to avoid the crashing bowl and splattering tomatoes and had gained on her by the time she jumped down to head out the door.

The rest of the story is not pretty. Suffice it to say that it was not a good start to our relationship. I no longer bother to chase Kat, as I always get blamed no matter what. Since then she shows up when I am working and tries to cause trouble. She is a master of passive aggressive behavior and always manages to make me look bad while she looks innocent.

I blame it all on Shandler. If she had monitored our initial meeting, she could have prevented Kat from going ballistic, which was totally unwarranted. At least, she would have realized that it was Kat who started the war. I was totally innocent! Never mind. It is what it is but if you see Kat in a picture or video remember that she is out to get me in trouble. She is nice to me when Shandler is watching but gives me the kitty paw when Shandler can't see.

If your dog and cat get along, I commend you, but if they don't, it's probably your cat's fault. Just sayin'.

Barb won't let me continue to blog if I don't shamelessly push her book, so buy a copy and help me keep her happy.
