PHD Blog 86 - Errorless learning
Possible?
What do I do when errors occur?
A recent article got me thinking about errorless learning. Errorless learning, as I understand it, is setting your dog up to learn in small steps such that your dog almost never fails.
I haven't thought much about errorless learning until recently. Of course, it always seemed like a worthy goal. Who doesn't want their dog to be successful? I sure do! But is errorless learning attainable? And what do you do if your dog makes an error?
After a recent training session I began to think more about errorless learning and how it applied to my session. So because of this recent experience, and a question in my FB group, I decided to share my thoughts on errorless learning.
I apologize for the wind-generated errors in this video. I used a cheat sheet during the video to keep my thoughts on track and the wind whipped it into frame a few times. Oh well. I guess you can't talk about errorless learning without a few errors.
I would be interested in your thoughts on errorless learning. Have you tried it? Do you practice it consistently? Is it achievable?
Book update
The ebook and paperback editions of Positive Herding 201 are currently available on Amazon. The paperback is also available at Clean Run and will soon be on Dogwise.
I am fighting to get the hardcover, color edition published, but the computer gods seem to be thwarting me. I will let you know once I prevail and it becomes available.
A book review, of either book, is GREATLY appreciated!
If you found this blog helpful, please tell your friends and
