Do you recall? An essential herding skill for your dog.

This week I want to emphasize the importance of relentlessly working on your dog's recall. Having a great recall takes time and effort to build but sets your dog up for herding success. While building a great relationship, you are also teaching an essential herding skill, recall off of livestock, as well as a possible life-saving skill in an emergency.

Train the recall often and in highly distracting situations. You are building your dog's desire to be with you and strengthening their self-control. Your dog will need tons of self-control when they start to perform trained skills near livestock.

Start early, train often, and have fun!
